7 Ways to Develop Healthier Eating Habits
Eating. It’s such a big deal in almost everyone’s lives – for various reason—unfortunately. Obviously, we all have to eat—even busy people. For most of us, there’s a time issue – just not enough time in the day for shopping, preparation, and cooking for every meal. Leading to more ready-made meals, which are high in fat, salt, and sugar content. Even when you plan ahead, sometimes it just doesn’t work out for whatever reason – it’s life, right? Not having a plan (or having a plan that falls through) leads to more visits to restaurants, especially at fast food establishments. This of course, means eating foods high in fat and…

4 Ways to Get Rid of Negative Self-Talk
Happy Tuesday! The sleep study is in the books – both my daughter and husband survived. Now we wait to find out if my daughter has sleep apnea. She was diagnosed when she was smaller, but a tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy solved the problem at the time. Since much of Pilates is done on the floor, you want the mat to be cushioned and as comfortable as possible. A typical yoga mat is fine,…

Part 1 – Pilates 101: Weight-Free Toning and Strengthening
Pilates is a popular workout for body toning without weights or fancy gym equipment. It is something you can do anywhere and is very effective when you are consistent. It was originally invented by Joe Pilates, who wanted to help people align the spine, strengthen the core, and be aware of their muscles. One of my best friends and I took a Pilates class at a gym in Atlanta almost 20 years ago. That didn’t go well for us. We both had done a lot of cardio and weight training – we were in good shape! Both of us had been dancers in our younger years – I had been…
